Samuel Safa is a multidisciplinary artist.
A composer, writer, and director, he works in the realms of film, video games, and live entertainment. He is also a mentor at the Newf Compose Yourself Lab in partnership with National Geographic.
He has composed music for several films, including Smile of April by Sabrina Karine and Jessica Brajoux, Soudain ses mains by Emmanuel Gras, and El Conquistador by Mathilde Bayle.
His work also extends to documentary films for TV and cinema, with notable contributions to Les Mondes Perdus, The Sand Eating Shark (winner of the Best Original Score at the Los Angeles Cinematography Awards), and Asteroids Rush (Best Original Music award for a feature film at the Cosmo Genetics Film Festival). For the latter, the renowned Tina Guo performs the cello parts.
In the video game industry, he has composed music for numerous titles, including 2Dark by Frederick Raynal (winner of the 2018 Jerry Goldsmith Award for Best Video Game Composer and nominee for the Ping Award for Best Soundtrack), as well as Kill The Bad Guy and Tiny Token Empires.
Samuel also plays a mentorship role with young talent, notably at the Compose Yourself Lab in South Africa, in collaboration with National Geographic. Alongside his students, he won the Jackson Wild Media Award for Best Original Music for the film Nkashi: Race for the Okavango.
Finally, he composes, produces, writes, and directs musicals in collaboration with his brother Julien Safa. Their works include Sherlock Holmes: The Musical Adventure (winner of the Best Young Audience Show at the Musical Comedy Trophies), Chat Botté the Musical, Pirates: The Destiny of Evan Kingsley, and Lynn: The Origins of Christmas.
